<p>For nearly 10 years now, <a href="http://my.ilasallecampus.com/index.php?lang=en_utf8">ilasallecampus.com</a>, which is a member of LaSalle International, has been a leader in the field of web-based distance education, often referred to as "e-learning."<br />
<br />
Thanks to the innovative combination of 2 software platforms, which were synchronized by the agency's expert team, the new portal for ilasallecampus.com now offers online courses that offer as many possibilities (if not more!) than being in an actual classroom.<br />
<br />
Classes are in real time and interactive. Thanks to the use of webcams and microphones, students can not only see and hear the teacher but also interact with him and with other students. The teacher can control theses interactions by deciding who and when each of them will be permitted to speak, with the simple push of a button. The integration of instant messaging allows students to communicate quickly between each other.<br />
<br />
The traditional blackboard is replaced by the "whiteboard", a virtual version of the latter. Thus, each student can view the teacher's computer screen and follow his mouse actions in real time as he goes through a lesson. The whiteboard also permits the display of image files, presentation documents and can even be used as an actual blackboard by using the mouse as a drawing tool. File sharing is also possible. Exercises, homework and lessons are available as tutorials, which can be downloaded from the portal.<br />
<br />
Each student has his own online account that allows him access to his personal calendar and also discuss with other students on the forums available for each course. Because each class is recorded and made available online afterwards, students can revise lessons at their convenience. Teachers and administrative staff can independently create new courses, modify schedules, enroll students and even keep a record of attendances.<br />

The theme of this year's event will be "business solutions for public administrations."<br />

Aimed primarily at policy makers, managers and computer specialists from public agencies, this conference will enable participants to learn about experiences and successes related to the use of open source software in different types of administrations in Quebec, Canada and abroad.<br />
<br />
The event will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Quebec City on November 5th, 2009 under the responsibility of the APELL (l'Association Professionnelle des Entreprises en Logiciels libres). The APELL's mission is to foster the creation and development of companies that specialize in open source software in Quebec.<br />
<br />
A few members from K3 Media will be hosting a booth at the event and invites interested parties to attend in order to get acquainted and discuss on the subject.</p>		]]>

		<title>2009 Gemini Awards Gala</title>

<p>K3 Media is happy to announce it's participation in the development of the promotional Web site created for the annual " <a href="http://gemeaux.radio-canada.ca/">Gala des Prix Gémeaux</a> " (Gemini Awards Gala) a new mandate from Radio-Canada.</p>
<p>The site was required to meet a certain number of technical and graphical standards in order to fall in line with the Web approaches of Radio-Canada. In particular, it was essential to develop a technical environment that would permit the implementation of an audio-video console so a live video broadcast of the event would be possible.<br />
<br />
The agency also created the structural design models for the site. An ergonomic interface with simple and friendly navigation was developed in order to create a design that would correspond to the visual branding of Radio-Canada and the Gemini Awards Gala. The integration of this design, also implemented by the agency, assured that the site would be compatible with all major search engines.<br />
<br />
Furthermore, K3 Soft, the content management system developed by K3 Media, was connected to the site in order to allow the administrators to be independent in updating website content like videos, images and text.<br />
<br />
Thus, the winning relationship between K3 Media and Radio-Canada continues with the addition of yet another interesting project!</p>		]]>

		<title>The MQQ takes a step towards web 2.0</title>

<p>K3 Media is proud to announce the launch of the new website for the <a href="http://www.qualite.qc.ca/">Mouvement québécois de la qualité</a>, leaders in the field of promotion and diffusion of best business practices. The new portal includes a multitude of efficient solutions that facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing between the members of this vast network.<br />
<br />
One of these innovative solutions is the new &amp;ldquo;Parcours de Performance&amp;rdquo; (Performance Guide) which offers customized solutions to a user according to the level of maturity of their business: establishment, mastery or optimization. Thanks to this ingenious tool, members can filter through the site&amp;rsquo;s content and visualize only the guides and documentation related to their specific needs. <br />
<br />
The agency also customized their content management system, K3 Soft, in order to maximize efficiency for the site&amp;rsquo;s administrators and optimize the user experience. The user functions implemented by the team include online membership inscription, a practical calendar of upcoming events and courses, class descriptions and online class enrolment.<br />
<br />
Another interesting novelty is the employment section, which allows members to post jobs related to the field of best business practices. Another section allows consultants to post their profiles and sell their services online.<br />
<br />
The processing of all this data is accomplished by the site&amp;rsquo;s administrator&amp;rsquo;s trough a single application: K3 Soft. Not requiring any knowledge of programming, the administrative functions include management of members, activities, courses and newsletters. <br />
<br />
The agency was also implicated in the restructuring of the website&amp;rsquo;s interface. With such an immense content to consider, web ergonomics were of top priority. In order to ensure a simple and functional navigation, a new design concept was developed in collaboration with the MQQ. In order to maximize the accessibility, the integration of the design structure was done with great consideration to web standards.<br />

		<title>Cyclo Vac Makeover</title>

<p>K3 media has just accomplished the first phase of an ambitious project. The complete website makeover for <a href="http://www.cyclovac.com/canada/Home/">Cyclo Vac</a>, world leaders of the central vacuuming industry. With an international online presence, the company&amp;rsquo;s new website needed to be innovative and of great quality. <br />
<br />
Thanks to a new design concept created by the Cyclo Vac artistic direction, the visual aspect of the site is refreshed. Interactivity is increased with the integration of multimedia content like demonstration videos and flash animations. With the aid of the agency&amp;rsquo;s experienced advisors, a more effective and ergonomic interface is developed. The website&amp;rsquo;s structure and immense online catalogue is optimized in order to meet the growing needs of the company&amp;rsquo;s many administrators, distributors and consumers. <br />
<br />
For Cyclo Vac&amp;rsquo;s administrators, having access to a functional system that would effectively manage the content of their multiple websites in different languages was essential. To accommodate this need, the agency customized K3 SOFT; it&amp;rsquo;s own content management system, by developing the first integrated, multi-user version of the software. Thanks to this innovation, a single master platform controls the content of each of the multilingual platforms that were developed for the project.<br />
<br />
Another essential function was added to the site: user redirection by IP detection. Thanks to this technology, the user is automatically sent to the site of the appropriate language. In phase one of the project, bilingual applications were developed for Canada, France and the United States.  <br />
<br />
The second phase of the mandate will provide many more interesting challenges for the agency. The applications in Portuguese and Hebrew will be developed. The integration of a virtual advisor is also part of the plan. Using predetermined criteria, this tool will provide users with product suggestions directly related to the needs they have identified. A promotional section, which can be updated by the site&amp;rsquo;s administrators, will also be implemented.<br />
<br />
Always captivated by projects that favor innovation, the agency is motivated to start second phase of the Cyclo Vac mandate.</p>		]]>

<p>K3 media is proud to announce the launch of its latest microsite <a href="http://www.hahaha.com/boeing/">Boeing: histoires d&amp;rsquo;avions</a> (plane stories) the agency&amp;rsquo;s very first mandate for Just for Laughs. The microsite in question will serve as host to the client&amp;rsquo;s amusing online contest, running from June 8th to July12th 2009. <br />
<br />
The programming component of the contest was entrusted to K3 Media&amp;rsquo;s expert team. The web integration of the microsite&amp;rsquo;s visual design elements, provided by <a href="http://tractr.net/">tract</a>, were also assigned to the agency.<br />
<br />
Just For Laughs developed the unique concept of the contest. Participants are required to share funny &amp;ldquo;plane anecdotes&amp;rdquo; in order to earn the chance of winning tickets to the hit comedy <em>Boeing Boeing.</em> A winner will be announced every week, for 5 consecutive weeks, which will be elected by a public voting system done through the microsite. A final random draw will determine which of the five contestants will receive the grand prize of two open plane tickets from <em>West Jet.</em><br />
<br />
Satisfied with the results of this first project for Just for Laughs, the agency is anticipating eventual contracts with enthusiasm!<br />

		<title>2009 Annual Media Awards</title>

<p>The mission of this campaign, created by <a href="http://www.touchephd.com/blog/">Touché! PHP</a> for the Fédération des producteurs de lait du Québec was to increase sales of table cream by associating the product to quick and easy recipes. By linking itself to popular recipe websites like <a href="http://www.recettes.qc.ca/index.php">recettes.qc.ca</a> <a href="http://www.le-compas.ca/2009/05/19/la-campagne-metsdelacremecom-remporte-le-prix-nouvelles-approches-interactives-aux-prix-medias/">(Média Transcontinental)</a> and thanks to a set of interactive tools, namely a <a href="http://www.recettes.qc.ca/facebook/app_widget.php">widget</a> and a <a href="http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=10745921386&amp;ref=appd">Facebook application</a>, the announcer quickly positioned cream as an essential cooking ingredient. K3 Media&amp;rsquo;s implication was at the level of the design, development and integration of theses innovative tools.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.recettes.qc.ca/facebook/app_widget.php">widget</a> is a multi-platform desktop application that provides direct access to recipes published on the <a href="http://www.recettes.qc.ca/facebook/app_widget.php">recettes.qc.ca</a> website.  One of the most interesting features of this handy tool is the recipe generator. The application can generate multiple recipes by using key ingredients suggested by the user.  In order to increase Internet presence, the widget was also made accessible online through 2 popular web portals: <a href="http://www.recettes.qc.ca/facebook/app_widget.php#netvibes">Netvibes</a> and <a href="http://www.recettes.qc.ca/facebook/app_widget.php#igoogle">iGoogle</a>. <br />
The <a href="http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=10745921386&amp;ref=appd">Facebook application</a>, voted as one of the most popular recipe applications in Canada, permits the user to share, rate and discuss recipes with other users.<br />

The development of new web technologies being part of K3&amp;rsquo;s mandate, the agency is especially proud to have participated in the success of this campaign.</p>		]]>

		<title>Find the Michelin Man</title>

			<p>This early in 2009, the K3 Média team is proud to announce the recent release of the &amp;ldquo;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.whereisthemichelinman.ca/">Where is the Michelin Man?</a>&amp;rdquo; online contest. Done for the Montreal Canadiens, this is the second contest in which the agency has been involved.</p>
<p><br />
The concept for the contest is rather fun. It resembles something akin to &amp;ldquo;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.findwaldo.com/">Where&amp;rsquo;s Waldo?</a>&amp;rdquo;, with Waldo replaced by the Michelin Man. Seeing as the online visual environment is the Bell Centre, hockey fans will feel right at home.</p>

<p><strong>THE CONTRACT</strong></p>
<p>For this project, K3 set up the microsite for the contest, as well as digital advertisements and web banners serving as a call to action.</p>
<p>Effix Marketing Inc, the Bell Centre&amp;rsquo;s exclusive marketing firm, oversaw the whole project, thus delegating several aspects of the contract to K3. The art direction, graphic design and the integration of the visuals were provided by the agency, as well as the technical portion of the contest, obviously.</p>
<p><strong>THE DETAILS</strong></p>
<p>Other than the programming and the web integration, the agency used K3 Soft to complete the technical aspect of the contract. In this project, the K3-developped tool was used for the contest management; simplifying data recovery and allowing us to see the number of participants.</p>
<p><strong>A CONCLUSIVE POST-MORTEM</strong></p>
<p>The K3 team is very happy with the results for the online contest contract. Also having done the conception of many web banners for the client, the agency is very enthusiastic about contracts to come.</p>
<p>The &amp;ldquo;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.whereisthemichelinman.ca/">Where is the Michelin Man?</a>&amp;rdquo; contest will be online during all of this year&amp;rsquo;s hockey season. Canadiens fans will have plenty to keep them busy and amused between this season&amp;rsquo;s games!</p>		]]>

		<title>Nivea Ends the Year in 6.0</title>

On November 1st, the brand&amp;rsquo;s much anticipated version 6.0 website was launched. Using a visual interface tailored from the international website, the local site benefits from K3 Media&amp;rsquo;s &amp;ldquo;digital team&amp;rsquo;s&amp;rdquo; solid experience. This time, in addition to playing the role of creator, the team also offers its technical know-how in a key content transition.</p>
<p><br />
More specifically, we speak of the development of additional modules for <a target="_blank" href="http://www.nivea.ca/">Nivea</a>&amp;rsquo;s internal content management as well as the migration and integration of its informational media.<br />

Web banners, television advertisements, K3 Média gave their all to do the contest justice. The Budweiser contest is intended for football fans, seeing as the grand prize is a party at Super Bowl XLII. The winners will travel to Arizona in the Budweiser airplane for the Super Bowl game.<br />
<br />
K3 Média chose, for this project, to focus on an integrated approach by taking control of all activities.</p>
<p><br />
This is a comeback for K3 in regards to television advertising. We&amp;rsquo;re betting that we&amp;rsquo;ll see RDS and K3 work together again and for a long time, especially considering this recent victory for the young firm!</p>

K3 Média is proud to annouce that it has moved into a new and bigger office space within walking distance from it&amp;rsquo;s former address. 400 yards away to be more precise. In only 2 days (Friday and Saturday) and with no production time lost, the K3 Média team were able to reach 95% completion level of their move related workload. Minor, non client associated, issues need to be resolved such as hiding a few wires and a little bit of paint touch-ups.  Now that&amp;rsquo;s efficiency! <br />
<br />
What does this mean? Well, it means that K3 Média now has more space to allow for new team members in the future. <br />
<br />
K3 Média would also like to take this perfect opportunity to welcome Eric Marquis, it&amp;rsquo;s newest member to the team, responsable for quality assurance.<br />
